Last Rites, Funeral and Burial Information
When the death of a friend or loved one in immanent, it is appropriate to call a priest so that the last rites of the Church might be administered. These rites usually involve the laying on of hands, an anointing, and a prayer that asks God to accept the person near death into the Kingdom of Heaven. These services are available 24/7 at Ascension, not only to members of the Parish, but to anyone. As well, Ascension officiates at funeral rites in the Church, the funeral home, and/or at the graveside for members and people who do not have a Church home. While in good health, parishioners are encouraged to make their burial instructions known to the Church in writing, to alleviate the pressure of "what would he/she would have wanted" from relatives. To get a copy of such a form, click here or call at the Church for a printed copy. In case of emergency, after hours, 24/7, call 502.226.0912. Please telephone or email Fr. Bob for assistance in filling out the form or to ask any other questions regarding the blessed passage from The Church on Earth to The Church Triumphant in Heaven.
